Growth Hormone Optimization – Lab Instructions

Accurate growth hormone lab work is essential for effective optimization. This guide explains how to prepare for GH-related testing so results reflect true hormone activity and support informed, personalized care.

Before You Go for Your Labs:

To ensure accurate and consistent results, please follow these guidelines unless otherwise directed by your provider:

Timing of Collection

  • All required lab work must be completed 7–10 days prior to your scheduled telehealth appointment to ensure results are available for review. Appointments may need to be rescheduled if labs are not received in time.
  • Schedule your blood draw in the morning between 8:00–10:00 AM.
  • If you are using Sermorelin have labs drawn 12–24 hours after your last injection to best assess baseline growth hormone activity.
  • Avoid post-exercise draws, as these can temporarily elevate GH-related markers.

Follow-Up Labs

  • Follow-up labs while on peptide therapy should be drawn 1 week prior to the end of your treatment cycle.
This ensures your provider can evaluate your response, adjust dosing if needed, and determine whether continued therapy is appropriate.

Fasting

  • Please fast for at least 8 hours before your lab draw
  • Water, black coffee, or plain tea (no cream or sugar) are permitted
  • Avoid supplements, protein shakes, or caloric beverages until after your draw.

Medication Instructions

  • Do not inject on the morning of your lab draw. Resume your normal dosing schedule after your blood has been drawn.
  • Other medications: Continue as directed by your provider unless otherwise specified.
  • Thyroid medications: Take after your lab draw.

Hydration

  • Stay well-hydrated the day before and the morning of your lab draw.
  • Proper hydration improves sample quality and helps ensure accurate kidney and liver values.

Exercise & Alcohol

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, high-intensity training, or alcohol consumption for 24 hours before your lab draw, as these can transiently increase growth hormone and affect accuracy.
