GLP-1 Weight Loss Therapy – Lab Instructions

Before You Go for Your Labs: To ensure accurate and consistent results, please follow these guidelines unless otherwise directed by your provider: Timing of Collection All required lab work must be completed 7-10 days prior to your scheduled telehealth appointment to ensure results are available for review. Appointments may need to be rescheduled if labs are not received in time. Have your blood drawn in the morning between 8:00-10:00 AM. Labs can be drawn on any day of your injection cycle unless your provider specifies otherwise. If your injection day coincides with your lab draw, it’s best to administer your GLP-1 injection after your lab draw to minimize nausea and ensure accuracy. Fasting Please fast for at least 8-10 hours prior to your lab draw Water, black coffee, or plain tea (no sugar, cream, or milk) are allowed Avoid gum, mints, or any flavored beverages Take only medications approved by your provider while fasting Medication Instructions GLP-1 injections (Semaglutide & Tirzepatide): Take after your lab draw unless otherwise instructed Thyroid medications: Take after your lab draw Other medications: Continue as prescribed unless directed otherwise by your provider Hydration Drink plenty of water the day before and morning of your lab draw Proper hydration improves kidney function accuracy and makes the draw easier. Exercise & Alcohol Avoid vigorous exercise, alcohol consumption, or high-fat meals for 24 hours before your lab appointment.

  • Other medications: Continue as prescribed unless directed otherwise by your provider

Hydration

  • Drink plenty of water the day before and morning of your lab draw

Exercise & Alcohol

  • Avoid vigorous exercise, alcohol consumption, or high-fat meals for 24 hours before your lab appointment.
