Female Hormone Replacement Therapy – Lab Instructions

Before You Go for Your Labs: To ensure accurate and consistent results, please follow these guidelines unless otherwise directed by your provider: Timing of Collection All required lab work must be completed 7–10 days prior to your scheduled telehealth appointment to ensure results are available for review. Appointments may need to be rescheduled if labs are not received in time. For cycling women:Have your blood drawn on Day 3 of your menstrual cycle (Day 1 = first day of your period)This timing provides the most accurate baseline for estradiol, FSH, LH, and other reproductive hormones. For postmenopausal women:You may have your labs drawn any morning between 8:00–10:00 AM For progesterone monitoring or cycle-specific assessments:If your provider requests a mid-luteal check, draw on Day 19–21 of your cycle Fasting Please fast for at least 8 hours prior to your lab draw Water, black coffee, or plain tea (no cream or sugar) are allowed Take medications only if directed by your provider Hormone Medications Skip your morning hormone doses on the day of your lab draw: Do not apply topical creams, gels, or patches until after labs are completed Do not take oral or sublingual hormone doses until after labs are drawn Resume your usual dosing after your appointment Hydration Drink plenty of water the day before and morning of your lab draw to improve sample quality and ease of collection. Exercise Avoid vigorous exercise or heavy workouts for 24 hours prior to your lab draw
