Where to Apply Your Estrogen Patch
Apply the patch to clean, dry, hairless skin on the lower body for the most consistent absorption.
Recommended Application Sites:
- Lower abdomen (below the belly button)
- Buttocks / upper gluteal area
- Outer thigh
- Lower back / hip area
Avoid Applying To:
- Breasts
- Areas with cuts, irritation, or rashes
- Oily, heavily moisturized, or recently shaved skin
Tip: Rotate sites with each patch to reduce skin irritation.
How to Apply Your Patch
- Wash hands and ensure skin is clean, dry, and free of lotion or oils.
- Remove the patch from its pouch without touching the adhesive.
- Apply firmly to the skin.
- Press for 10–20 seconds, ensuring all edges are secured.
- Avoid showering or heavy sweating for 1 hour after application.
Showering, Bathing & Hygiene
Modern patches are water-resistant. Normal bathing will not remove a properly applied patch.
Showering Tips:
- Avoid applying the patch immediately after a shower (skin is warm and moist).
- Avoid directing hot water directly at the patch.
- Do not use soaps, oils, or exfoliants over the patch.
Bathing Tips:
- Regular baths are fine.
- Long, hot baths may loosen adhesion—check edges afterward.
Swimming & Hot Tub Use
Your patch is safe for swimming in pools, oceans, and lakes.
What to Know:
- Chlorine and saltwater usually do not remove the patch.
- If the patch edges lift, you may reinforce them with medical tape.
- Hot tubs may loosen the patch more than regular swimming—check adhesion afterward.
Exercise & Sweating
Heavy exercise and sweating can affect patch adhesion.
Tips for Active Clients:
- Apply your patch to lower-sweat areas such as the buttocks or lower abdomen.
- Ensure skin is completely dry before application.
- Avoid applying immediately after workouts.
- If the patch lifts, secure edges with medical tape.
Adhesion & Troubleshooting
If the patch loosens or edges lift:
- Press firmly for several seconds to reseal.
- Reinforce with medical tape or a transparent dressing (e.g., Tegaderm).
- Do not use glue or adhesives directly on the patch.
If the patch falls off entirely:
- Apply a new patch immediately to a different site.
- Resume your normal schedule with your next patch.
Skin Care Tips
- Avoid lotions for several hours before applying a new patch.
- Rotate application sites.
- If irritation occurs, apply to a different area next time.
- Hydrocortisone cream may be used on irritated skin after patch removal.
